Optional Tour of Brookhaven National Laboratory - Friday, October 11, 2019 - including a boxed lunch (afternoon) and light reception at the Lab (evening).

Basic Information

ICALEPCS 2019 attendees (200 max.) may sign up for the tour on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests will be assigned to one of four (4) buses by the tour coordinator. Bus assignments will be printed on the back of conference badges.

Departure Times

Buses will depart promptly from the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge hotel at assigned times after closing remarks.

• 1:15 PM - Guests on Buses A & B report outside the hotel at the main entrance (curbside) for departure.
• 1:25 PM - Guests on Buses C & D report outside the hotel at the main entrance (curbside) for departure.

Return Time

Buses will return to the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge hotel by approximately 9:00 PM.

Locations

Tour stops will vary by bus. All buses will visit the National Synchrotron Light Source II and two of the three Collider-Accelerator Department (C-AD) facilities shown here:

• C-AD Main Control Room
• STAR Detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider
• Superconducting Magnet Division

Important Requirements

All tour guests must:

• Bring government-issued photo ID to enter the Lab. Show ID as you board your bus at the hotel.
  • Foreign nationals must show a passport.
  • U.S. citizens must show a passport, or a current state-issued driver's license or photo-identification card.
• Wear long pants and fully-enclosed shoes.
• Travel on their assigned tour buses only (no cars). This is important for facility capacities and lunch distribution. Bus assignments will be printed on the back of conference badges.
• Guests must always remain with their assigned groups and follow instructions of their trained Brookhaven Lab escorts.
  • Lab access is approved for your scheduled tours only.
  • Deviations are not permitted for additional buildings, meetings, etc.

Meals

Afternoon - Boxed Lunch (served on bus)
Three (3) boxed lunch options are available for the bus ride to Brookhaven. All lunches will be served with a cookie and bottled water. The tour coordinator will email participants for their lunch selections.

L1	Sandwich - Black Forest ham w/ Jarlsberg cheese; Pasta - Penne with grilled garden vegetables
L2	Sandwich - Lemon peppercorn chicken w/portobellos and sautéed spinach; Pasta - Fusilli with tomato, basil and fresh mozzarella
L3	Sandwich - Smoked mozzarella, eggplant, and tomato; Pasta - Penne with sautéed spinach and artichoke hearts

Costs

The fee for the Brookhaven Lab tour is $75 U.S. per person and covers transportation, a boxed lunch, and a light reception after the tours. This cost must be included in your registration for ICALEPCS 2019.
